  1. I played a bit of DQIX today and encountered my first metal slime (in that staple of the series), it made me want to bring up a topic about it in the DQ group.
  2. hey man, did you get my invitation to join the dragon quest central group? thought i'd, again represent the DQ series and have a place to post DQIX progress
  3. yeah thats what i meant
  4. You mean like the other 7. Dragon Quest only had 1 playable member - the hero - and the fights were always 1v1.
  5. oh, so you do get other party members in this one like the other 8? that makes sense. I thought it would be a 1 man quest the whole way lol. I think i'm going to have a team of spartans by the time I recruit the other members in the storyline.
  6. I believe my hero is at 9 with my other party members at 7.
  7. So what level is your character in DQIX? i'm rocking at level 10 with a skilled swordsman and i'm just now heading into the woods to investigate the roadblock thing from the earthquake lol
  8. i've been playing since i've got it, my character is now a mortal due to the disaster on that yggstra thingamajig
  9. That's good. I still haven't continued my journey in DQ IX; I have to defeat the Wight Knight. Because I've been watching a lot of Gundam I went back to my second file of Xenogears which I had stopped playing. This in turn has halted my Gundam marathon; I'm just in a Mecha mood.
  10. Yo, just joined the DQ IX bandwagon today. Went to get Split Second and that mysteriously turned into purchasing that game instead.
  11. Yeah, I probably should, I'm looking into getting IX, have that on my b-day wishlist. My only obstacle is the Ys series, they have been stealing my attention as of late.
  12. We got some clouds with like a 30% chance of some falling water. You need to get your Dragon Quest on.
  13. I do love dragon quest just not all of them, then again i haven't played them too much. (Except for V and VI that is) and i'm smoking 97 degrees hot weather over here lol
  14. Sabin what you be smokin' son? Too much level grinding in the original Dragon Quest? You only need to be like level 25 to beat the game. I remember in the last dungeon I was able to level up pretty quickly. Dragon Quest shouldn't take too long to beat since it is a pretty short game. But if too much level grinding is not your thing then the Dragon Quest series may not be your thing either.
  15. Your comments about the Cloud and Sephiroth screenshots on the game. It was just marketing so I had hoped that wouldn't stop you from playing a very enjoyable and deep fighting game.

It is going pretty well. I haven't put much time into - yet. Been reading and watching Turn A Gundam. Controlling the character's movement with the stylus is a bit awkward and poor compared to how it was in FFIII and FFIV (DS versions). An arrow appears which shows the direction of where the character is going but it can be misleading; it can be misleading if you don't start moving the stylus from the character that way it is in direct correlation. I've had some difficulty but now I got the hang of it for the most part.

There are 6 basic "jobs" called vocations and 6 advanced vocations that can be unlocked later on. You can see the monsters on screen but it is still all turn-based. The start of the story, what evil has happened, has got me wanting to know why it occured and I have a theory going.

Another thing that I don't like that much is while using the stylus the player must select an option twice - once to light it up green and a second time to confirm. If the player uses the buttons it doesn't require that. It appears so far that this game has a couple of poor design choices. Also there are these things the character can do - I only have one now but I assume I can get more - the one I have is the "air fist" which causes the character to "fist pump" essentially. In order to perform that, the player must press "B" then the corresponding direction (up for "air fist"). I haven't found the way to get to that menu via the stylus - don't think the player can - so that must be done with the buttons. Just some minor stuff.
