  1. That's true. The same unionists always turn up to any protest that is vaguely left-wing, and try and adapt it to their agenda. That pisses me off. Things aren't so simple as to lump them into giant categories.
  2. People like to protest. Some would call it a hobby.
  3. I though that too. My problem is with a corporatist and corrupt political system, embodied by what they have to put up with in the United States. And if you check this list, NZ tops the rankings for the lowest corruption perception (and I'd say reality). Pretty much giving money to a political party is near-scandalous, and we have so many open-government pieces of legislation. I don't go a day without reading the phrase "papers obtained by [paper, news show, any individual person at all] through the Official Information Act show". They can't hide anything. I love it. So I sort of question why there's a NZ Occupy movement.

A lot of what they're protesting is environmental and social justice, but I'm pretty sure other organisations already cover those things pretty well.
  4. People here aren't exactly smitten with the idea of the protests, and I'm with them. I know what they're supposed to represent. But the fact that they're doing it everywhere makes no sense... If a country changes it's laws (ha!) to meet the demands of the protesters, will they stop protesting? Or will they protest in 'solidarity' with the Americans?

I just don't get it. And I passed them everyday whilst they were still there. Nobody honked their horns in support, ever.
  5. Shit that's awful.

Occupy Wellington is going well. The protesters were asked to move to make way for the All Black's victory parade. They said no, and offered to instead offer hospitality to parade-goers. The Council accepted. I got a free organic, fair-trade coffee, made by an Occupier.

The best the Council has come up with to move them (they are outside the council buildings, nearish to the New Zealand stock exchange) is that they are damaging the grass. It hasn't stuck and I can't see them moving, especially with the weather getting better by the day.
  6. Occupy Glasgow has been a shambles. Since it's freezing in Scotland, the 'protesters' allowed homeless people to sleep in their tents. About the second night into that arrangement a homeless woman was raped in one of them.

Now the council has moved them away from where they were so that Rememberence day and Christmas can be held in George Square as always. The protesters actually moved. Huh.
  7. Hahaha, brilliant.
  8. Power abuse on my part.

    Tea is rather excellent.
  9. Yes.
  10. Would you care for some tea?
  11. Man it's a bitch to remember to tick that box, but I'll try.
  12. With signatures off.
  13. Haha man, this is brilliant. Now we just need to get into a passionate back-and-forth in a thread to confuse everyone.

    Wow that came out wrong.
  14. "Bitchy little liberal hippy"

    ^ Class act.
  15. I shall tell the world that is me. I'm willing to bet around 47% of TFF users would believe that, with an additional 30% believing I was a more plain-looking member of the female side of our species.
