I stumbled upon them just recently while searching for some songs, and reason for liking them is same as yours. As for copying Evanescence, I wouldn't go that far, sure, they sound similar, but that's just Moody's style which many other bands use as well.
Yep, someone introduced me to the band, and I loved Carly's voice and their style of music. ^_^ It's because they're so much like Evanescence that I like them so much, I think. Even though people say they're just copying Evanescence (and their name is an allusion to Evanescence's first studio album), they're two different bands with different music to me, and I like them both.
I see you listen "We are the Fallen", excellent band, their music reminds me a lot of Evanescence, which isn't a surprise since half of Evanescence former cast make the band, even Evanescence founder. Anyway, nice choice of music.
He's a mage, so if used normally, the fighters best him by far, but when you know how to use him as a fighter, he's pretty good. I used just Leon to take down one of the superbosses with a little over two million HP, I believe. I loved his attitude. =D Yep, the Ethereal Queen, for one, has millions. And also, if you do the events with Philia, you'll turn off Gabriel's limiter, so he gains triple the HP at the end and becomes the hardest boss. Yeah, and some characters require other characters, so that's pretty cool, too. =) It's so nice seeing all the different abilities, though some characters like Noel, I just hate. ><
Leon! Can't say I'm familiar with his skills as I never used him in battle, but his personality didn't appeal to me at all, in fact I hated him for his bratish and cocky behavior, though he does change near the end of the game. I could be mistaken, but I don't remember any boss having over one million or even million HP, Gabriel only had 500 000, though I've read somewhere about a super boss stronger than Gabriel, so that could be it. One thing is sure, the game needs to be praised for enormous list of playable characters, I managed to gather eight or nine characters through the game so I was pleasantly surprised to to hear that there are even more. Also, it solely depends on you which character you want to recruit which is a big plus in my book, it surely adds to replay value.
Yeah, some of the things from Second Evolution does fade too quickly, though I thjink my main reason for liking it so much is Leon. ^_^" Even with the Ten Wise Men, though, some of the parts near the end seems kind of weird; some of them don't really "belong." But I thought the plot was more creative, for sure. Yep, and some bosses have insane amounts of HP (in the millions). The most for First Departure is a little over 100,000, only. Yep, I was just gonna say the fast paced thing. =) And the animations get annoying after a while, for sure, That's why most people stick with the weaker but shorter spells. Speaking of which, spells are actually really helpful and damaging in this game, whereas it became obsolete after a while in the second game.
To give you my final thought on the story I'll need to play rest of the game first, but yea, so far it seems to be more intriguing. The plot from Second Evolution starts pretty good, but fades away really fast, nothing concrete happens until you met the ten wise men which is practically at the end of the game. I'm also glad to hear that I'll have easier time beating the First Departure, Second Evolution can go a little bit overboard as far as difficulty goes. As for the battle system, I really like it, it's fast paced and fun, though it bugged me that I couldn't skip spell animations, especially when your mage goes with all MP out.
Yep, I've played all four of the main Star ocean games. =) If you need advice or any help with strategies, then I'll all ears! ^_^ Second Evolution is actually much harder than First Departure, though; in First Departure, you can easily beat the game's hardest boss with solo battles. Hahaha, really, you like the story better? Personally, I liked Second Evolution's story a bit more, but the games are sequeled, kind of. I like the battle system of the series a whole lot. =)
Thanks Fate. Also letting you know that I've gotten into Star Ocean lately, that's your field, right? If so, I hope I can count on your help, I went through hell with Second Evolution, don't plan to repeat the same mistake. Borrowed First Departure from a friend, just trying it out before I decide on buying it. So far the story seems to be better than the one from SE, though the rest is pretty much the same, I must admit I finally understand why you prefer this over Final Fantasy.
