It doesn't really bother me that much, but it's just kinda weird. And it's like, "I'm gonna make a CD for my mom! I wanna put a Richmond Fontaine track on! ...I don't know if any are appropriate..." ha.
Words like that don't really bother me at all. I'm not sure whether you being American (right?) has anything to do with it, but I'm guessing it does. Also, it's your mother tongue. But swearing in Dutch doesn't bother me either...
In other songs, they swear a bit. The first one I ever heard by them, there was a line, "What the fuck do you think you're doin'?" And in this other song, he sings about calling out to all "fuck ups." I suppose they don't swear in every song, although a lot of the subject matter is really... interesting, too. Like one song is about a racist, and another is about being a degenerate (actually, a lot of them are, ha.) Anyhoo... Wuv, Yer Mom

I really like them a lot, too. My brother introduced them to me. It's a little weird to get used to all the swearing they do, though. And *nod* It doesn't sound much like country that's on the radio, that's for sure. And that's probably why I like them, ha. Anyhoo... Wuv, Yer Mom
I just listened to the first band and I like it. There's not enough more quiet music around. Radiohead and Beck, but other than them. The first band doesn't really sound country though. More like folk, if you want to avoid the 'pop' word.
What do you think of Alt Country? like these guys. They are from my home state! Or these guys. (to be honest, those guys are a little too slow for my tastes, sometimes.)
They have a lot of different kinds of songs and albums.
Can't say I've really heard much by them-can't think of a song by them, or what they sound like-though I've heard of them. Maybe I'll look them up on myspace or emusic or something.

I like some of the old punk. Mostly the Clash; can't say I'm too familiar with most others. I like Blitzkrieg Bop by The Ramones a bit. Depends on how old "old" is; there might be some more. I like The Vandals, Rancid, The Descendents, and a little Bad Religion, too, if you're talking 80's. "Progressive shit?" Rush?
