Yes: Easy and Normal. But Easy has tons of unavailable stuff, so choose Normal, the one I'm playing.

Yeah, the game is difficult since it has so many surprises. I died several times already... But the game is cheap, though! Only $29.99.

It's way harder, and it's more complicated. You can open the one and only menu while fighting, but the fighting continues, meaning you can die!

Well, the battle system is like setting the option to Manual in the Star Ocean games. So if you X, you slash where you are, unless you are close to enough to the enemy and are locking into it.
