Sorry I haven't been typing more VMs to you. I'm stuck with phone internet so a longer/more desirable response isn't the simplest task at the moment. But I'm glad that you're enjoying the forum and getting to know some people. You're right, the community is great. I came for Final Fantasy but I've stayed seven years because of the people. Glad to have you among us. So how have the last couple days treated you?
Heheh yeah, figuring out how to make a living out of it is the tricky part. I've always been an artist, so of course I've had the typical nerdy dream job of doing art for video games and all that. Its still not completely out of my reach, but despite being a hard gig to get into, I'm also still not sure if its something I'd enjoy doing for a living. So hopefully a couple years of community college will give me some sort of direction. Well likewise I admire people who have a gift with dogs, or animals in general! I used to be horribly awkward with animals, especially dogs, because I never grew up with a pet, and big dogs used to scare me, and I swear they could totally sense that and take it as a sign that they should jump on me and knock me over. I've gotten better with animals over time though. With kids, I was always alright with them since I'm the oldest of five, but having this kind of job has definitely "learned" me. Its a good thing I'm naturally patient or I think these kids would have drove me insane by now! They're awesome though, I get to nerd out with a lot of the older ones (i.e. the ones that aren't toddlers/infants) about shows they watch, like Ben 10, Pokemon, Transformers, Teen Titans, etc. Rocky, eh? I'll say hello to this guy once I see him, that's really cool that he does that! So far, I'm mostly lurking (old habits die hard...), but what can I say, I get caught up in reading threads from start to finish... so that's mostly what I've been doing. xD But I really like the forum so far. It seems like a pretty close community, which is not what I was expecting, but came as a pleasant surprise. I'm sure I'll feel at-home in no time!
I'm the same way! With the "arts category" desire. All my life, I've had an interest in the arts (visual art, music, writing, acting... martial arts.. haha) and I guess I'm just trying to figure out how I can create art and make a living at the same time. And it's okay if my dream world is really specific because I can always change it if I need to. Easiest thing in the world. That's really cool what you're doing with kids. I admire that. I like kids, but I think my gift is with dogs. Which is cool, but I sort of envy people who have a gift with children. You should strike up a conversation with Rocky sometime. He works with special needs kids and I think you two might enjoy each other. He's dealing with a few major events so he might not respond immediately, but leave him a message at some point. Or I'll tell him to leave you one. So how are you enjoying the forum so far?
Performing Arts, that's awesome! And your dream world is quite specific, haha, but that's the point I suppose! It does sound quite dreamy. I'm a student, so all my jobs are part-time ones, but I have three jobs at a time sometimes. They're all the same sort of employment; I do childcare for different programs. My main job in the evening is caring for kids for a couple hours at a sobriety center while their parents attend meetings, then I have the morning job for a couple hours watching kids, then I have the weekend evening gig chilling with the kiddies while their parents attend "positive discipline" classes. If you couldn't tell, I spend time with more kids a week than I do my own family. =P I'm like you though, in that I have absolutely no clue what I want to do once I graduate either. I'm not even positive what I plan on majoring in, though I'm definitely leaning towards something in the "art" category.
Oho, California. I can't remember everyone who lives out there, but I do remember Fishie and Violet do. I'm on the east coast (Georgia) for school. But when I do use MSN, it's during weird hours, so we might end up using it to chat one day. But I'm glad VMs work for you. My quarter starts tomorrow, so, like you, I won't have a lot of chill on MSN time. But these are easy. So what do you do? If you don't mind me asking. I'll even share first. I'm a senior Performing Arts major (daring, right?) but no, I have no idea what I'm going to do once I graduate (everyone always asks). In my dream world, I live somewhere pretty in Wyoming where I can raise and train rescue dogs, and I get the occasional big acting job to satisfy career ambitions/restlessness. Your turn.
Of course I don't mind! VMs/PMs work just fine for me as well, since I'm usually working/sleeping all week, it doesn't give me a whole lot of time to chill on MSN. But I'll totally add you once you get everything situated! My handle is also quite simple; [email protected]. I'm way west coast over here in California, which means I'm usually stuck behind everyone else when it comes to time-zones. I'll be sure to direct any questions I may have at you then, should I think of any. Thanks for being my first-ever TFF friend! =P
Weeeeell hello! Funny we got paired up. A lot of people on this forum call me Ally, but you can call me Ocean or whatever you're comfortable with. I just moved into a new apartment, so I don't have internet hooked up yet. I have friends' houses and I can do some stuff on my phone, but I won't be able to get on an instant messenger until I'm all hooked up. So it's VMs and PMs for a while. Hope you don't mind. You don't need to tell me exactly where you live, but if I knew what time zone you were in, that would help me coordinate a conversation with you once I'm able to use instant messengers again. I tend to use MSN for TFF contacts. The handle is simple enough. [email protected]. If you have questions about anything (or anyone.. haha ), send me a message.
Hi again! Just sending you a VM letting you know that coincidentially we were paired in the Adoption thread thingy. As far as the forum goes, I'm sure I'll eventually know my way around here like the back of my hand, but when it comes to members I seriously don't know anybody yet! ...Which would probably also be remedied in time as well, but anyways! Pleased to make your acquaintance. :J
