You need PSX FFT and a Game Shark. You unlock Debug Mode and you can turn on this like training mode where you can drop down 10 units. When it's not your unit, pass the sticks.

hahaha thats funny. the only FF i found worthy of a debug mode type thing was FFT...it allowed head to head fighting!

When I realised that I'd turned them off. As long as my VMs still work afterwards, you can blow shit up as much as you need in here.

I think I might know what game you're talking about... but the name escapes me at the moment. For some reason I thought of Shadow of Memories too, but that's a guy. =[
Heavy Rain looks like this one game I read about. It's like playing Silent Hill with like a Bioware dialog with different decisions. But in the one I'm talking about I think you play as a woman. Plus no monsters So like lets say you do one thing at one point, the entire game changes, but lets say you do that part over again and choose something else, the game changes differently.
