  1. What do you mean by freedom?

I'd say, for instance, Belgium has at least as much freedom as the US.

Plus we are allowed to hang with Mary Jane.
  2. I meant, in the most part, in comparison to any other civilized nation. Sure, there are areas that are prettymuch lawless, but for first-world countries, none has more freedom than the U.S.A.
  3. "I live in America. Here, we have more rights than anywhere else in the world."

I was wondering what exactly you meant by that. Do you mean it like the USA is representing the Western world vs. the rest of the world, or do you mean in comparison to every other country?

If the latter, I might argue with you.
  4. By the way, we have totally different political views, which is almost inevitable, you being from the US, me being from Western Europe. But you manage to discuss with me in a decent way.

I like that. It makes me respect the conservatives more. Cause you have to admit, most of them(/you?) are fundamentalists who have no clue about what they're talking about.
  5. I get what you're saying.

I take it you're not a fan of socialism or Europe-like politics?

Anyway, did you hear about that Republican guy, claiming how he got beat up so badly that he needed lots of sedatives and someone to talk for him (which is ridiculous, since he was able to stand and talk for himself right after the 'fight')?
But the thing is, he was protesting against Obama's health care reform.
And now, he's collecting money on a website because he needs it for 'surgery' etc. Wtf did he complain about if he didn't have health care anyway? The change would only be in his advantage.

    How ironic (and downright idiotic).
  6. Well a big problem with government programs is that all too many people don't know the difference between something that's "free" and something that you're forced to pay for no matter how much you use it. Just because you're taxed for something instead of paying just when you use it doesn't mean it's "free", far from it. That's one of the things many Americans, like myself, consider to be an asset -- we are financially free.
  7. But the US is a pretty young nation.

Much like the Islam is a very young religion compared to christianity.

    Evolution is relative.
  8. I don't know, man.

Health care is virtually free over here, and euthanasia is legal (of course not in every case).

I said to a friend who was complaining about the political situation in Belgium only today, 'Belgium is a great country to live in, paradise compared to the US'. He said 'yeah, but it's just sucky to live in te US...'.

Like the comparison didn't make any sense cause the US is considered a crap nation to live in.

I'm just saying. Not that you should care what other nations think of you that much, but it has come pretty far when over here, people use the US as a 'bad example and laugh at your ways.

It's a different culture, sure. But human beings are human beings.
  9. IF Palin said that, she's not far off. Part of Obama's plan -- whether he publicizes it or not -- includes "health panels", basically a group of doctors that would decide the most cost-effective course of treatment. A common theme for English and Canadian socialized healthcare is just that -- if it's not cost-effective at all, there's no point in doing it. Which means that the elderly or disabled, like the mentally handicapped, are much less likely to receive care. That also means that, since it's the government controlling treatment, they'll me much quicker to pull the plug than somebody else would -- somebody else, like a family member that controls the medical program. If you add to that the legalization of euthanasia, it wouldn't be a far stretch at all to see the government letting people die instead of paying for their healthcare.
  10. I'm glad to see a (semi?)republican not caring about Beck or Limbaugh.

I guess you don't like Letterman (let alone Craig Ferguson)?

And Palin said Obama was planning on composing 'Death Panels' to decide who lives and who dies. what the?

The bill contains a fragment about how people should be able to consult with a doctor about how they want to arrange everything when they're dead, or when their dead is a certainty (or at least that's what I understood from it), and the Republicans go all 'Obama wants to pull the plug on Grandma with his death panels' and the USA is headed straight for Hitleropia.

So I guess I could say you're like a Republican, only with common sense?

Or is that too offensive? (though it was meant to be a compliment.)
  11. Hahahahah, no, I don't care much for Beck or Limbaugh. Honestly, if they ran for office, they'd have a decent chance of being elected, but there are plenty of left-wing lunatics with the same chance, or that already ARE in office.

I don't believe CBS is cable, their national news is on their local channels. But I won't watch that crap. Their local news is alright, but they screen their national news too much ... Bernard Goldberg, a former CBS reporter, even wrote a few books on how badly their news is biased.

And while I'm not a big fan of Palin, a lot -- a LOT -- of what she says is taken way out of context and over-exaggerated. She's not anywhere near as stupid as the media makes her out to be.
  12. Is CBS cable?

And do you support everything Glenn Beck and the Limbgauh guy say?

Cause they just seem frustrated about not being in office and all.

    Comparing Obama to Nazi Germany...

Not to mention Palin's 'OMG, Obama wants to kill my down syndrome child'.
  13. ("I don't get it", as in, I only get a few channels, and none are cable news channels.)
  14. I'm not Republican, I'm conservative. While the Republican Party used to be conservative (Reagan), is has strayed (Bush, McCain, etc.). I tend to lean more Republican than Democrat, but only because the Democratic Party is much, MUCH more liberal than the Republican Party, as liberal as they are.

I don't watch Fox News because I don't get it, but I would watch that over CNN, CBS, or MSNBC. While many people claim that it's "biased", it is only biased in its commentary, not its reporting. Bill O'Reilly and such, of course he's got his own opinions -- it's not his job to report the news, it's his job to talk about it, and he says what he thinks about it. Their reporting, though, isn't really biased, it's much (MUCH) more balanced than most American mainstream media networks.
  15. We don't drink Blue Moon over here, ironically.

I guess it's more of a foreign market.

I like Guinness, but only at certain times. The burnt aroma doesn't always go well with what I'm into at times.

Btw, I think you're a republican guy, right?

So do you watch FOX News?
