Dude. You won't believe what I've seen right here on TFF. http://thefinalfantasy.net/forums/ge...out-irony.html
Ah, the firearm issue. If your 'second amendment' involves the right to own objects of which the only purpose is to injure or kill other human beings, you've got a ****ed up country, in my opinion.
Haha the worst argument is "but the Constitution says...". Since when was it the Word of God? And even if it was, it was written ages ago, and needs to be constantly re-evaluated. I mean some of that document is shit anyway. They have the right to own guns, so that means criminals are 100x more dangerous. We don't even have armed police in NZ, because we don't need them - criminals can't get guns. A simple logic, and a simple criticism of the US Constitution.
That is a weird anecdote. I like your metaphores in the Obama Healthcare thread. "I don't hate America. I hate the Americans." is something that would, sadly, be true for a lot of people. I mean, the USA have the best guitars and motorcycles. And their entertainment business is the largest in the world. It's just the cultural differences that get in the way when discussing basic politics or social issues. I find it very annoying that they seem to be unable to discuss and criticise the US. Or at least most of them. James (a.k.a. Walter Sobchack, formerly Richard M. Nixon) and Che, for example, are great guys. They are rational and are not afraid to see the truth and criticise anything, regardless of what your relation with it is. I'm not one to say that Europe is better than the US. It probably is in many ways. But unlike Americans, I don't go yelling that around, winning arguments with just that statement...
Their concept of 'freedom' is inherently selfish. It's freedom at expense of the next guy, and they don't even look back. Plus, I think some of them are just plainly stupid. Like this American tourist I was in line behind at a dairy. He asked the shop keeper: "Got Coke?", "No, I'm afraid we're out." "Oh. Got Coke?" This exchange repeated twice over, I shit you not. I could not believe my ears, and everyone was just stunned. I don't want to believe that the vast majority are as stupid as that, but wow... And Michael Moore isn't as inaccurate as he is made out to be. A lot of the arguments against him are stupid enough to be written by old "Got Coke".
Exactly my point. They refuse to believe that there is a better way to do things than the American way. I mean, Europe has been evolving for many-many centuries now. The US is way younger and only really started to fully function when we had our Enlightenment. They had the Wild West, while we were doing other stuff. Although I like the Wild West culture. It bothers me sometimes why everything is so different in the USA. Why are they so paranoid? Why are they so fond of their precious firearms? Why do they insist on trying to boost their economy by invading countries and killing innocent civilians? Why are they stubborn and can't they see that many things are being handled really well over in Europe or Australia and NZ? I like how Michael Moore tries to find an answer to some of these questions in Bowling for Columbine, but can't figure out. Europe has known a LOT more war, and wars with civilian casualties. But maybe that's exactly why they are so paranoid. Because they think stuff like that can happen anytime. Like when the president wants to have socialised healthcare... The thing is that the USA really is a different world. We assume that it's part of Western society, because of our shared economy, the media, their export of entertainment, the English language etc. But it's really almost as different from Europe as some Asian countries.
Actually, you know what's surprising? The fact that Americans are even having this debate at all. I don't know about Belgium, but here in NZ it goes without saying that we get free health care if we need it. Anyone who said otherwise would face stiff opposition from both sides of the political fence. I really can't understand their opposition to it when healthcare in other countries is not failing, and, if anything, it could be done better in the US, provided they allow reforms to take place. A really strange place, that America.
Man, I love how you blatantly said all that in a VM which anyone can read. You've got balls, clearly. Good. I feel inclined to start a thread entitled, "America vs the World", because there are so many things that just fall into the category of "only in America".
Man, I love how you say what doesn't cross my mind when I'm typing. There's so many arguments in favour of the Obama healthcare, that I can't sum them all up when I'm actually typing a post, cause I don't think of them at the time. And yeah, I get what you meant earlier about Sasquatch. He has his periods I think. He can be a stubbron ****er, refusing to even consider other people's points, but there are times when I actually enjoy discussing with him. Go figure... I think he's jus fine as long as you don't criticise the American way of doing stuff. So there's your conservative technique for you. You can debate all you want, but don't you dare question basic values of the USA!!! I don't think he realises we do it to our own values too. That's what being an enlightened individual is all about... Not to mention his arrogant know-it-all-attitude. I think (or know) I'm right, but I don't go around calling anyone who disagrees with me a 'kid'. It's sad really.
Dude! I love the signature!
I made the signature advertisement. It could probably use work. If you have a funnier phrase to use, don't hesitate to tell me.
Chest moustache
Obama sounds great. And I meant the latter. Haha that Obama picture looks great. And that guy with the chest hair is weird.
http://bitsandpieces.us/wp-content/u...20mustache.jpg This guy wins. http://static.squidoo.com/resize/squ...anREX-crop.jpg This was the best I could find in the 15 seconds I allocated to this.
Do you mean as a member, or for an advertisement? If it's the latter, how about Obama with a huge moustache? You know, 'cause he's one of us?
