Weren't you always studying in Brussels? I used to have an 8am lecture twice a week, which required a 7am train -.- (and our trains are shit), but I know how that feels. Journalism now, isn't it?
Haven't been drunk in ages, man. I'm studying in Brussels now and have to take the train of 8 o' clock every day.
Holy shit dude, I missed your birthday!! No longer a teen; that must feel odd... Hope you didn't get too drunk/stoned!
So we shouldn't make it too in-depth? I think if we just outline a description and some basic positions on several areas (health, perceptions, addictiveness, legality, tax revenue, etc), while remaining completely impartial (initially, at least), then it's more likely to be taken as a serious discussion, rather than a GC "doo youz smoke p0t??!!1" thread.
I think it will, yeah. The first post should be a good one, and it should show that you know enough about it to actually discuss it in ID. But make sure you don't give away all your arguments in the first post. I found a picture on Wikipedia once. It showed a graph with all well known drugs in it, how damagaing and how addictive they all were compared to eachother. I'll try to find it.
Yeah I just downloaded a few of their albums (legally, with money, from iTunes, 'cause I pay for good music). I heard Planet of Ice when it came out, as my friend lent it to me, but hadn't heard any more. I can tell you it certainly doesn't get worse. So you think we just talk about why it is considered bad, and the rest will just flow naturally out of that? I want to make a substantial opening post (complete with images and headings), in an effort to get a good, structured discussion, otherwise people will just dismiss us as pot heads - erroneously, of course.
And I just noticed the name of that band. I knew of it, but hadn't listened to any songs entirely yet. Ever. So I'll finally get to that.
1) It sounds ok, but I need to listen to more stuff to be able to tell they're something I could like. 2) Sure, I've discussed Mary-Jane several times already in VM's and different threads. It could be about the fact that it has a bad image, even though alcohol is 'worse' in almost any way. I always like to compare those two, and the hypocrisy of some people that goes with it. I think the main issues would be why it has such a bad character. It being illegal and not fully socially accepted is a natural next step in the discussion.
Bro, long time no talky talk. I'm not 'officially' back in action, mostly just VMing while I'm studying from my computer. Anyhoo, two things. 1) What do you think of these guys? Pretty tight, huh? You can listen to the whole album on that thar webz address. 2) Do you want to collaborate on a 'Mary-Jane' thread in a few weeks? I don't know if it should be about legalisation, or just in general, and whether or not it should be ID or GC. Any ideas for some possible things to say? I'm thinking you could do health and (lack of) addictiveness, and I could do arguments for and against legalisation. Or something, if at all. Thoughts?
I see. Then, yes, they suck big balls.
scalper: someone who buys something and resells it at a price far above the initial cost; "he got theater tickets through a scalper"
And I can't find anything.
wtf is Scalpers? As I'm typing this question, I'm already looking it up on Wikipedia.
Pixies are coming here too, but it was $135, so I was a little apprehensive at first, and missed my chance - sold out in less than a day. Not making that mistake with TCV. I heard they sold out their first show (9 August this year, in the UK somewhere) in 12 minutes! And they haven't even released a song! The only thing you can hear of them is people's shit cellphone recordings from various live performances (on YouTube). It's a gamble, but with John Paul Jones (wrote No Quarter, my favourite song), Josh Homme, and (not so much, but I'm excited he's on drums, ahhh Nirvana) Dave Grohl, it can't be bad. Scalpers suck balls. BIG ones.
Nah, English goes faster for me too. Nice. I'm saving money these days though. I'm thinking of getting a new acoustic guitar, instead of a shitload of effects for my electric one. The Pixies are coming to Belgium I think. But what gets me most is that Sonic Youth is coming for one little show in a fairly small concert hall. Not the size of a concert you'd expect from a band like Sonic Youth, though small concerts are always way better. Well the thing is that it's in Brussels. And if you know how small Belgium is (like two times New York CITY), then you know Brussels isn't far away from any place in Belgium, especially not from my city, which is barely 30 km away from it. I don't have tickets. I didn't know they were on sale. I saw a lot of tickets for double the price on ebay the next day. I hate ****ers like that who buy loads of tickets just to make money out of it. That's just stealing money from the fans. And it's so absurd that I can't go, seeing how it's only one show in Belgium, and they're playing some of my favourite songs of theirs live these days.
