Battlegen is a large factor in getting various accessories and other things, which ultimately need to be traded for better stuff and equipment. Each character has an ultimate weapon, but it gets ridiculous how to get them. Fate was lucky, as Ghost Battles have the best equipment, and fighting them so many times eventually yields some of their equipment, specifically, the weapon. As for me, I don't know anything about Tidus's World Champion, or anythign specific about the "best" equipment...
