grateful day

AH. I had a good night's sleep, and got up feeling grateful. Grateful, even though I have one, that my life does not revolve around a specific goblin who sends tingles of fear down my spine and belongs in purgatory.
(With the way things are going, I should really sleep-in more often...)
I'm grateful that the kitchen is not flooded... grateful that the floor isn't covered in vomit... grateful no one is swearing at me, grateful, in a way, that I messed up earlier, because people have lowered their expectations of me. Grateful the world is still here and that I have another chance to prove I can be better. I can be perfect, and I will prove it.

Enough of those vagaries and on to the news.

In the elections, Cyan's name has risen far above those of her competitors. With 4 votes, the runner up having 2, Cyan condescended to give us a brief interview.
Bitter Cyan: "Cyan, you were nomination number five on your own poll. How did that make you feel?"
Smug Cyan who keeps bouncing in chair: "Yes. I was. I submitted my own work last because I didn't want to seem like a ham." audience chuckles.
Bitter Cyan: "And then it turned out that the link to your work was a dud."
Smug Cyan: "Yes. I was. The voting took off before people had had a chance to see my work." flashes nervous smile to crowd .
Bitter Cyan: "But then you 'fixed' it by putting your work right there on the poll page. An honor you did not offer to the other contestants, thereby making you - in fact - a ham! " audience gasps.
Not-So-Smug-Cyan: "Yes. I was. That was supposed to be a joke, but no one appeared to get it."
Bitter Cyan: "The public has had enough of this ham's excuses. How dare you fix an election and call it a 'joke' Security, seize her!"
Thick-muscled hunks descend upon Smug Cyan and drag her, screaming, from the studio.
Not-So-Bitter-Cyan: "This has been a brief interview with the number five contestant. Good night and good luck."

I'm such a ham...
