School Days...

So, I may not get a moment to talk more about this, so I am doing it now while I have the time.
Today, I went to the college to register for classes. I printed out specific pages of the course catalog so I could give the advisor an idea on what I wanted to take this semester. My sister came ten minutes earlier than she said to pick me up, so I was rushing toward the end. I was nervous on the way there, because I am starting another new chapter in my life. I mean, haven't there been enough new chapters? Anyway, we arrived 22 minutes before my appointment time, so we sat in the car a few minutes. I tried to calm myself by attempting to fix my sister's tape deck in her car. The cassette in it was stuck, and I tried to get it out. I was unsuccessful, so I asked her if she wanted to go in with me. She said she would, because she worries about me so. I don't know what it is about the women in my life feeling as if they need to take care of me all the time, but I have decided to not object to it anymore.
We walked in and showed my sister how the building is laid out. It is shaped like half of a wheel, with the numbered hallways similar to spokes on a wheel. Anyway, we went to the fourth spoke, and to Room 404.10 (yeah, I don't really understand the whole decimal point room thing, but oh well). I signed in, and both my sister and I were invited to meet the advisor. She explained how the registration system works, which went quick because I was quite prepared. What I wasn't prepared for was the fact that some classes had been filled. Nor was I prepared for the fact that in order to take the English class I wanted, I will have to retake the placement test. The advisor said that they the instructors are firm on this rule, despite my experience with writing. If only I had squeezed in a couple more paragraphs, she said.
Anyway, I signed up for three of the classes I wanted. However, I was put on the waiting list for two of them. We then went to ask about taking a placement retest, but I was told that the next available retest date is at the end of June. So, I couldn't get into the English course. I then went to check on my financial aid, because I have to take enough credit hours in order for it to kick in. I didn't have enough, so we went back to the advisor to get another course. I first wanted Accounting, but it needed a prerequisite (even though the course is being discontinued after this semester), so I settled for Allied Health Mathematics.
You may be thinking, "Michael, isn't that the course you 'helped' Joey's bus driver during the Spring semester?" And the answer to that is yes, it is. I am going to be taking it for myself this time, as an elective. Joey's bus driver made me think that it was only available for those in the health field, and the registration lady thought that as well. But, since I am counting it as an elective, it will work out.
So, I am now definitely in the Allied Health Mathematics and the Biology courses. And I am on the waiting list for the College Algebra and Sociology courses. I have sent Emails to the professors in the hope that they will allow me to take the courses. If not, I will have to find something else before the first Thursday of June. After that, I may have to wait until the Fall semester to take what I want.
After we were done there, we went to Lowe's for my sister. As payment for taking me to the college and waiting with me, I bought the floor tiles she needed for her bathroom. We then went to Burger King for lunch. I tried one of those Whopper Dogs. It was good, but my sister didn't like it. She was like, "It's not a beef hot dog, so it isn't a real Whopper." It tasted fine to me, because I don't like beef hot dogs. I also had another Angriest Whopper, which was not angry at all. Curse my childhood filled with Mexican cuisine!
After that, we listened to music from our respective Spotify playlists, and went back to my house. That is when I began searching for deals on schoolbooks. I found some good deals on some of them, but I had to buy one of them brand new, because I couldn't find one with the extra things needed to complete the course.
I then mowed the yard, and now I am typing this to you all to read. After this is done, I am going next door to work for a couple hours.
Well, that's about it for now. I hope to see you around the forums, and until then...
Later!
Michael
