Moving forward.

Today I applied for jobs in Sinking Spring, or rather a job at one place in Sinking Spring. And a few hours after submitting my application, I received the phone call for an interview! It happens on Monday at 12:30 pm. I am excited, because it seems like they really want me to work for them. You see, the place I applied at said that they weren't hiring at this time. But they allowed me to submit my resume and fill out an application. And then they called me on the house phone and set up an interview.
But what do I know. In my life, I have applied for three jobs. Two back before I started at the Messenger, and the one today. And as you know by reading my journal here, I was given the job at the Messenger by some stroke of luck.
*For those that don't have the time to dig through the journal. My Mom had me go to the Messenger to complain that we hadn't been receiving a paper and that when we did it was thrown in the cow field across the road. I went in and complained. Instead of being given a complaint form, I was given a job application. The next week I was delivering papers. And the rest is history.
I never received call backs for the two jobs I applied for back in 2005 and 2006. One of those places closed down, and the other turned me down because I had my hair down during the interview, or at least that's what one of their staff members told Grandma (it was for a stockroom position). So this is my first call back. But still, it seems to be a good sign that they called me back after only considering my application for three hours.
And so, the rest of the day was spent determining which pieces of art (the ads I have made) I should bring with me just in case they ask about my experience. Since I have no experience working in a store (which is where I applied) other than dealing with customers at the paper, all I can do is show them what I have done and hopefully be able to convince them that my attention to detail in those pieces will translate to my potential if they hire me.
I thought that maybe I should show them some of the work I have done for their company, and then I thought maybe they didn't like those particular ads.
Now, the next obstacle is actually getting to the interview. I have to be in Winchester, Ohio at 12:30 on Monday. That's about 21 miles away. First, I have never been to Winchester before in my life (that I know of); so other than the images on Google maps, I have no clue what the place looks like. Second, how should I get there. I am sure that Grandma or Dad would be able to drive me there, but it's not impossible for me to ride there on the bike. Especially since I would riding my bike to and from my place of business. I figure I may as well try and go there myself. I feel that I would more than prove my capability of getting to work, especially with informing them of how I have been doing it for seven years without being late once.
Anyway...
I had a little trouble connecting my PS3 to my Wi-Fi this evening. So, I made use of the new Ethernet cord I was given from the phone company and used a wired connection instead. But the cord was too short. I had to rearrange my entire room to make it so the PS3 and the computer could both reach the modem. The good news is that I really like the new setup. The bad news is that I now have nowhere to keep my bike in my room. So my bike is now in the garage. And it will be there until I get motivated enough to clean my sinkroom.
And that's been my day. The only gaming I did today was helping Joey drive around in Need for Speed. I have a plan though. But to know about that, you'll have to read my gaming blog. Mainly because I haven't completely thought it through.
Anyway, that's all for now. I hope to see you around the forums, and until then...
Later!
