The Michael Swayne Story V: King of his Castle

Can't you see I have them wrapped around my finger?

I had a horrible time trying to go to sleep last night. Actually, I should probably say this morning. I was awake until 5am. I don't know how or why I am staying up so late anymore. I am so tired during the day after I wake up but become less and less tired as the day goes on. Like right now as I type this (at 11:45pm) I feel wide awake and ready to do anything. I have been awake since 7am this morning. I should not be feeling this way.

I figured if I just watch some anime I would become tired enough to fall asleep. So I started by watching the first episode of Hikaru no Go, an anime focused around the game Go. I have played Go before, so I figured I would like the show and get some pointers on the game while I am watching (because I am horrible at Go). But I didn't get pointers on the game, and the show wasn't too interesting. So I figured I would try a different show.

That's when I searched for another anime similar to Hikaru no Go and found Akagi. That was a big mistake, because the show sucks! It is focused on a sick and twisted way to play Rock, Paper, Scissors. I am really surprised that they were able to make a 26-episode series about Rock, Paper, Scissors. I am also shocked that there's a 75-episode series about Go. Anyway, I suspect it to be an older show, because the art is much bolder than a lot of the shows right now. Faces are more block-like (noses that could cut paper), and lines are thicker. I tried looking the plot of the show online, but all I could find is one of the same name but a different plot. The one I am watching is set in a modern time with cell phones and computers, and the one in the description is set in 1958. Maybe they are part of a series, because they are both about games (the other one is about mah jong).

*I had a wonky moment. I looked up the site history of last night just now, and I found out I wasn't watching Akagi at all. I was going to watch Akagi, but the video players that featured it were ones I don't like to use. So, I decided to watch Kaiji instead. Anyway, both have similar art styles. Silly me, forgetting what I watched last night.

I managed three episodes of that show, and I still wasn't tired. And I didn't want to continue watching Kaiji, so I ended the night with a mini-marathon of A-Channel. It is a slice-of-life anime and is nothing like the other shows I watched last night. It's funny, and cute. mainly funny. I'd recommend watching it if you like slice-of-life shows. It's odd though. It seems that all of these slice-of-life anime shows are about the same slice of life. It's like there are tens of shows about three or four high school aged girls. I can probably name ten that I have watched.

1. A-Channel
2. Lucky Star
3. Love Live! School Idol Project
4. uh...Saki
5. Saki: Achiga Hen Episode of Side A
6. Yuru Yuri
7. Yuru Yuri 2 (you count them separate because they weren't planning on having a second season)
8. Hidamari Sketch x Honeycomb
9. Black Rock Shooter (I think you count that as one)
10. and um...Haibane Renmei

and those are just ones I have seen. As for ones about a male slice of life, there's...

1. Danshi Koukousei No Nichijou
2. ... that's the only one I have seen.

I'm sure there are others, it's just that they're buried among all of the girl ones. If anyone knows of a good male slice-of-life anime (preferably one that doesn't have mecha in it- I watched one episode of Gurren Lagann (spellcheck on that) and didn't like it), then please tell me.

Anyway, I finally went to sleep.

When I woke up, the day was spent continuing A-Channel. I am only a couple episodes from completing it. I also played some Phantasy Star Universe and 999. And a better part of an hour was spent looking up instructions on how to make a transmission. My brother and Dad asked me to find out how, because it was given to them in parts, and it was for a model they aren't familiar with. The pictures I saw online looked as if it was in a language I have never heard of or seen before, but they were able to take a quick look at them and put it together with no problem. I will never understand cars.

I can't go a day without mentioning the kittens. I was about to, but then I looked up at the title of this entry and realized I hadn't mentioned them. When I step out onto the porch and say, "Come here, Littles!", they come running. I have given the two black cats possible names. Since the kittens are just clones of the adults, I call the one like U "Lowercase", and the one like Omega "Not-so-Mega". The striped cat is proving to be a difficult one to name, just like how her Mom was (Itsy). The striped cat lately is called "Striped Cat" or "Little One". It will work for now. But they come when I call and climb all over me. So CUTE!

U is showing jealousy when it comes to the kittens. He is my little boyo, after all. He only acts like that when he's outside though. When he's in the house, he knows that no little fluffy faces are going to interrupt his attention time. He also doesn't like being followed now. Lowercase was shadowing him; and when U stopped, Lowercase didn't and ran into him. U smacked near Lowercase. If Lowercase hadn't of rolled over on his back to play with U's tail, he probably would have been hit. And Omega wants nothing to do with the little ones. But that's probably because he's such a loner anyway. The only living thing he seems to be nice to is me.

Tomorrow I plan on doing the same thing I did today. I hope I will be able to sleep better than last night though. Well, that's all for now. I hope to see you around the forums, and until then...

Later!

Michael
