If I don't think about it, some of the anger goes away.

But I can't help thinking about it. Why would you say something like that about your hardest working employee? It makes no sense.
Now, for a little backstory.
I left for work at 8:04 am this morning, and I arrived at 8:43 am. I then began to work on the menu. When Iris came in, she informed me during our chat that the owner thinks I should have already been finished with the menu. That I already had plenty of time to work on it, and that there was no reason that I should still require time to complete it.
In my head, I was saying every profanity I know. Which is a lot; after all, I speak three languages. Seriously, I come in to work early every day and yet I am accused of not working! I don't even eat lunch most days because I work through lunch and it goes to waste.
I am paid $5 per hour from 10am-3pm to build a newspaper each week. I don't complain (too much) because I earn enough money to pay my bills and still have money to spend on myself. I arrive at work each day usually 90-120 minutes early and don't get paid for it. I take the trash to the dumpster on my own time. I even went out of my way to deliver a proof of the menu on my day off. All this, and I am told that I should already be finished.
How am I supposed to find time to work on an extra project when I am only given ten hours to make a newspaper? It makes me feel like I am just being used.
Anyway, from now on (maybe not forever, though), I will not begin working until 10am. I should be like the other employees and not show up until I feel like it. I shouldn't work on something on my own time just to please the owner. From now on, unless I am getting paid for it, I am not doing it.
That's how I want to be, but I can't. I want to put my foot down and assert myself. But I don't want to jeopardize my job. Misty and Iris said to not pay what the owner said any mind, but it just bothers me so much. I put everything I have into my work each week, and to hear that I am not working hard enough is really insulting. If she would look up from her piles of cash (which is what I assume she does) and see how hard I work, she would realize that the paper wouldn't function without me.
Oh well. I plan on talking to her about it. She has surgery today, and won't be out and about for two weeks. Maybe this will give her time to see how wrong she was when she said that about me.
Moving on...
I didn't do much after getting home. I signed up for the next King of the Web election. I have 40 votes so far and I am in 28th Place. I would have at least 80, but I told my people to save their Bonus Votes for a while. I have 10, my brother has 10, a friend of mine has 10, and my sister has 55. I don't get another Kingmaker Pass for about three weeks, so it will be a while before I make my next super attempt at winning.
It takes about five weeks to get a free Kingmaker Pass, which gives your votes more power. I figure that I will try again to make a run at winning in about eight weeks. That is about 560 Bonus Votes earned. With the four in my group (that I know of), that makes it 2,240 in the first day. Then with a Pass, I can get even more Bonus Votes during the election I use it (230 to the normal 140 per election cycle). I may not win, but I can make a good run at it. If I win, that will be great. If not, I will adjust my plan and try again in the future.
Other than the competition part of it, there's also the chance to discover some great talent on YouTube. If it wasn't for the competition, I wouldn't have known Connor Dwyer (Music King category- 18th Place) or xiaorishu (Vlog & Film category- 6th Place) even existed. Connor and I have talked in YouNow some. It has made voting a lot simpler, too. I vote for myself in Gaming, Xiao in Vlog, and Connor in Music. If I could find an entertaining Makeup contestant and an overall King of the Web to throw votes at, I could get my voting done in a matter of seconds and go on with my day.
I encourage you to check out Xiao's and Connor's KotW profiles and watch their videos. They are very entertaining. And don't forget to vote every day. Don't forget to save up your Bonus Votes for about eight weeks so I can get a huge lead when I run again. My goal is to make the Top 5 next time (or Top 9).
Well, I have some time before I am heading to bed. Maybe less, because I am starting to yawn. Anyway, I think I will stay online a bit and work on editing some of these videos I have on my computer. Once I get them posted, I can erase them from here and save space. If there's still time, I'll probably just browse YouTube until I'm sleepy.
I hope to see you around the forums, and until then...
Later!
Michael
