Pokemon LeafGreen - Meet the Crew Part 2

I know I said this wouldn't get updated all the time, but I figured it would be good to do it every time I beat a Gym, as they start to get a bit more spaced out from now on.

There aren't any new additions to my team, everyone has just leveled up 3 three times and have a couple new attacks.

After posting yesterday's Blog, my team and I have beaten our rival for the 3rd time. Despite having one less Pokemon we were a good two levels ahead of his strongest guy, so if anything he was a good source of exp.

Nugget Bridge and Cerulean Cape weren't too much trouble either and on the way to Bill's house I picked up the very useful 'Secret Power' TM which replaced Clefairy's Mega Punch.

I had quite good luck with Misty, at level 23 I was several levels higher than her Pokemon which gave me the edge over her. Mankey took down her Staryu with two Karate Chops, it tried to raise its defense with Harden but it was too little too late. I didn't want to take too many risks with Starmie, if it all went horrible for me, I wanted Makney to serve as my last stand. He was switched out for Ivysaur, who could resist Starmie's Water attacks, but I was worried he might get outsped before he could deal any significant damage. I said I was lucky because for the entire fight Starmie resorted to using Swift, instead of the confusion inducing Water Pulse which would have been much more deadly. Thanks to this and Ivysaur's newly learnt Razor Leaf, I took down her entire team in around 5 or 6 turns, and emerged relatively unscathed. I was awarded with Water Pulse, which I gave to Clefairy so she could fend off Rock types.

Here's how the team looks after the battle:

1. Ivysaur (male)
Level: 23
Type: Grass/Poison
Ability: Overgrow
Moves: Tackle, Razor Leaf, Sleep Powder, Leech Seed
Nature: Quiet (Sp.Attack+, Speed-)
Stats: All around bulk with emphasis on HP, Sp.Atk and Sp.Def.

There's not too much difference with Ivysaur. Razor Leaf is stronger but a bit less accurate than Vine Whip, but the extra damage is very welcome. Tackle will most likely get swapped for Cut when the time comes, although Grass and Poison opponents will still be a pain to fight.

2.Mankey (male)
Level: 23
Type: Fighting
Ability: Vital Spirit
Moves: Scratch, Leer, Rock Tomb, Karate Chop
Nature: Hasty (Speed+, Defense-)
Stats: Huge emphasis on Attack and Speed but very frail due to his lowered Defense.

Mankey hasn't changed much either. Scratch will probably be replaced by Strength and Karate Chop with Brick Break when I find them. Still can't take a hit from anything even relatively weak attacks can take their tole, the best strategy with him is to hit things and hope they go down in one or two hits.

3. Clefairy (female)
Level: 23
Type: Normal
Ability: Cute Charm
Moves: Secret Power, Water Pulse, Encore, Sing
Nature: Jolly (Speed+, Sp.Atk-)
Stats: Big emphasis on HP and Sp.Def, everything else is average to below average.

Clefairy's changed the most since my last entry, having learnt two new attacks in Secret Power and Water Pulse. Secret Power is slightly weaker than Mega Punch but has full accuracy and has a chance to inflict a different status condition on the opponent depending on your location. Cute Charm is fantastic when it's being used by one of your Pokemon for a change. Whenever a male opponent attacks Clefairy, there's a chance they could become Infatuated which gives them a 50/50 chance of not attacking her in future turns.

I'd quite like to get a Vaporeon as my next Pokemon but that won't be for a little while longer as I've got to cover quite a bit of ground before I get to Celadon City, where you're given an Eevee.

Lt. Surge's Electric Gym is up next and as Ivysaur is the only one to resist that type I might have to catch a Ground type like Diglett or Sandshrew specifically to fight him, although I don't think i'll have too much trouble if I train up a bit first.

This entry was quite a bit more wordy than the last one, I'm still trying to figure out how I want to format everything. I can't guarantee when the next Blog will be, it just depends on how long it takes to beat the next Gym.

Thanks for reading, i'll see you guys around the forum. Feel free to comment or drop me a vm, if there's one thing I love to discuss, it's Pokemon.
