Good news, everyone

Did that remind you of Futurama's Farnsworth? Or perhaps Ziodburg, why not? If you were to say it in their voices I'm sure it would make sense.

Anyway me and my girlfriend decided that however many months we're on our break is too long to go without a ps2, so we decided to go halves on a preowned one until the time comes to get a newer console of some kind. I find it strange that the game I want to play the most out of my collection (of like 20 games) is Final Fantasy X-2. I don't even like it that much but I was reading about a couple of the super bosses and it sparked my interest. One thing I do happen to like about it is the Job, or Dressphere system that lets you change the character's abilities, albeit rather basically.

The Expendables was on tv last night and as there wasn't much else to and it was only 9pm, I watched it. Honestly, It was a lot better than I though it would be, by sticking a bunch of (rather old) action stars together in one movie would usually be a recipe for cheese, cheese and more cheese, but they actually pulled it off quite well. Each actor got to play their part, although some got a little more screentime than others. I've always liked Jason Statham in his gangster movies so I was glad to see him in this film. Also a lot of action films tend to build up very slowly, which can be quite boring as there's often not too much of a plot to cover all that time. The Expendables just jumps straight into it, which makes it much easier to watch.

I don't really know where I'm going with this but I made a bit more progress on FFIV. I've made my way to the 3rd floor of the Lunar Subterrane and everyone is between levels 66 and 71. A Blue Dragon dropped a Wyvern Lance which is one of Kain's most powerful if not his most powerful spear. I beat the White Dragon after loosing to it once and got the Murasame or Muramasa or whatever Edge's top katana is called. Rosa now has Mp50% instead of Whirlwind and Rydia has Piercing Magic instead of Tsunami. As i'm being extra cautious with the last dungeon i'm teleporting out to the entrance each time something good happens so I don't lose all the progress I've made. Again.

Cut it a bit short as I forgot half the stuff I was going to say.

Thanks for reading and I'll see you around the forums.

The Dresssphere system in that game is the only truly good part. The combat system was really awesome. It's a shame the rest of it was just so damned campy.

Yeah it can be nice to have a simplified Job System, like not having to worry about the drawbacks of switching from a mage to a warrior. But some of the dialogue and cut scenes just make me cringe.

I agree that it's not perfect, but I just don't think it deserves the bad rap it gets to be brutal. Once you get past the first chapter, it becomes a lot more serious and less OMG YUNA IS SINGING!

Martin, I never said it was bad! "Campy" and "bad" are not always synonymous. I actually *gasp* like X-2. I just don't have that itch to play it on a regular basis like I do with VI or X or T.

One of the main reasons I'd like to start X-2 all over is that I've never actually completed it. Every time I make some progress either I lose the file somehow or it's saved over by someone else.

the battle system makes the game worth playing, its excellent. The dressphere system is great. Never really found a need to utilize garment grids though, but the option is always there. I liked getting their ultimate dresspheres maxed out and using them, they were really powerful. Theres also a lot of fun to be had out in the al bhed desert and from memory, a few optional bosses as well. A wickedly freaky boss in the al bhed desert which you might see if you spend enough time there. One of the biggest optional quests (with bosses) is diving into the bevelle depths. I never actually completed it , but I got to floor 80 I think. Anyway, I'm actually holding off on replaying both X and X-2 as im hoping for some sort of ps vita/psn release. Id love to be able to play them on my vita. That goes for ff12 as well.

The garment grids seem a bit unnecessary. Getting stat boosts or access to spells by equipping them or passing through gates is a bonus but usually to get the most out of them you have to pass through multiple if not all the gates. I like to go into battle with three set jobs, only switching, say Yuna, because I need a White Mage and If I have to swap Jobs all the time It kinda messes up my flow. Or I'm just weird.
