The struggle over the tyranny of my world

So, i downloaded a few games of my games genre for research. The THQ bundle did wonders with its fps. Thoroughly enjoying red faction Armageddon. It hasnt really offered me a whole lot towards my own project though. Great story is kind of irrelevant since what i have is fairly limited storywise, unless i do something in the direction of eve, which will require more game making afterwards, which is entirely possible i guess. Not something i need to think about
The extra powers gained might add a little to thought, as the repair function there was great. It could be considered op though, in a way.

Im thinking about using an equip system which will basically determine what your role in combat would be. This will be gained via equippable items that can be held (in the rather limited) backpack. This is how i feel players will be limited, as carrying something that will fit this slot can be as large as i desire. Players will have the freedom to do whatever they like. Thats most of the point. Classes can be completely designed yourself, as can a pre-set backpack storage. Corpse looting might be a part, salvaging weapons could be a small option.
So far, i only really have a few options..
Jetpacks
Repair gauntlet
Blast shield (will negate ALL damage for a very short duration, IE, a grenade)
Possibly temporary cloaking
Maybe a foot thruster (will push your character forward for a distance)

I do want to come up with a lot more ideas in this department, as it will fill a large portion of tactics that this game will entail. So yeah, important hows its done. But really doesnt take too much effort. Ill work it out slowly, i still have about 6 months till we see any in game practice. More FPS research, i guess.

My fangirl was online today, but she didnt send anything to me. I was there only about 10minutes after she was, so i thought she might be around, but yeah.. Not sure. The forums here are a little annoying in that you cant directly see if a message was sent. Well.. you might, but i can see it being hard enough that you could send something without noticing that you hadnt. Either way, i miss her. Its almost christmas too. I was really hoping to ask her if she already owned what i was thinking of getting her.

Well, im not sleeping anytime soon. Might go back to my slight studies.
