If I have the gift of prophecy, understanding all the mysteries there are, and knowing everything, and if I have faith in all its fulness, to move mountains, but without love, then I am nothing at all. If I give away all that I possess, piece by piece, and if I even let them take my body to burn it, but am without love, it will do me no good whatever.
Love is always patient and kind; it is never jealous; love is never boastful or conceited; it is never rude or selfish; it does not take offence, and is not resentful. Love takes no pleasure in other people's sins but delights in the truth; it is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes.
Love does not come to an end. But if there are gifts of prophecy, the time will come when they must fail; or the gift of languages, it will not continue for ever; and knowledge--for this, too, the time will come when it must fail. For our knowledge is imperfect and our prophesying is imperfect; but once perfection comes, all imperfect things will disappear. When I was a child, I sued to talk like a child, and think like a child, and argue like a child, but now I am a man, all childish ways are put behind me. Now we are seeing a dim reflection in a mirror; but then we shall be seeing face to face. The knowledge that I have now is imperfect; but then I shall know as full as I am known.
In short, there are three things that last: faith, hope, and love; and the greatest of these is love.
That's the page that was book-marked in my Bible. I like it. Probably gonna keep the bookmark there. Think it is a chapter worth sharing. Love is highly important. I am thankful I have lots of it in my life. Just must make sure I always have some to give in return. *nod nod*

Also, here are some quotes from BMT and stuff:
"Dirtbags, dirtbags, dirtbags!" -one of my MTI's, who found people goofing off in the laundry room
-Why do I keep calling you Henderson?" "I don't know, sir." -My MTI and I
-"YOUR OTHER LEFT!" -my MTI to me because I am retarded about directions sometimes for some reason
-"The actual... in the dang ol'..." another MTI, who used those as substitutes for curse words constantly
-"Why should I listen to you?!" "He's got a tie!" -two flight members
-"Now, it's shut up!" -My Element Leader, telling someone to be quiet
-"You're still alive, huh?" "Yes, sir!" -My first MTI and I after I got through BEAST Week
-"I saw some great hustle out there, but I still see people walking through the cordons!" -This dude at BEAST Week addressing everyone. He said that every time he spoke to us. It became legendary to those who were there.
-"Excuse me sir." "Weirdo." -Me and some MTI at the D.FAC.
-"You look just like another [name] I had." "That's [name], sir." -My first MTI to another flight member.
-"I was thinking about life." -Girl in my current class, explaining why she was zoning out.
Long and short of it, Basic sucked. Tech School is a bit better, but I can't wait until my first duty station. Yay memories, though! Anyhoo...

"And now abideth by faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity." 1 Corinthians 13:13 KJV. One of my favorite quotes. That chapter is beautiful, I have a bookmark around there too. Phillipians is also a really good book that's written beautifully. Check it out if you haven't already.

PS- you still need to read Fight Club!

Your version, it says charity instead of love? Interesting. Huh. I've read most the Bible, but I forget stuff a lot, heh. One of the books that I always remember is 1 John. All that abstract talk about love is interesting.

*nod nod* I still do Maybe I'll borrow it from my bro, although I don't have much space to take stuff back with me...

Yeah, the King James version uses the word charity. The New International Version uses love. I personally prefer the King James because I think the NIV tries to translate certain things to "modern English," and by doing so changes the entire meaning of a passage.

&& I'm just giving you shit, the book doesn't differ very much from the movie, but there are some things that make it better, etc. You should totally invest in a nook or something like that, it's perfect if you like to read a lot but don't have room for a bunch of books.

This passage is always in the back of my mind, whether I want it there or not. I used to be catholic. This passage has always brought me comfort when I'm down, no matter what my views are now. Thanks for sharing.

I also love the quotes from Basic.
