Yep, I'm a geek.

I was bored so I decided my phone's default sound effects weren't good enough. My text message notification is now the Mognet sound from Final Fantasy IX. And my general notification sound is the save from Final Fantasy VIII. Just because I can. And the victory fanfare is so cliche now.

I am kind of sad though--you can find some sound effects from VII and VIII, but for some reason finding them for any other game is pretty much a crapshoot. Bad enough I had to rip the audio for the Save sound myself because the download link on Youtube went to Megaupload so, yeah...

So anyone else have video game inspired phones? Oh, and my background is an awesome, if slightly off-center image of the Griever necklace against a red and black grid kind of thing. Matches my neckalce. I might change it to something more monochrome though, if I can find it. Or maybe I'll just make the damn thing myself. Whatever.

But yeah, if you have some sweet game sounds, or know where to get some good ones, feel free to mention it in the comments.

Certain Final Fantasy tunes are indeed hard to find unless you decide to crop them on your own using youtube videos, mp3 files and whatnot. I got a new mobile phone myself just recently, nothing impressive really, I did however put some thought into my new ringtone.

Super Mario Bros theme was my old ringtone for quite some time, right now it's 8-bit theme from Angry Joe Show. I'm still having hard time deciding what to use for my message tone, I'm torn between MGS alert tone, Zelda (the one when you find a new item), and Final Fantasy victory fanfare. I might even go with Reaper Sound from Mass Effect.

Yeah, my only thing with doing it myself is that, well, it takes effort. Yes, I am that...efficient.

I have a friend who uses the MGS alert for texts. He also has the bacon pancakes song from Adventure Time as his ringtone.

My text alert is the sound byte from when Kirby wins a minigame in Kirby's Adventure. My default ringtone is Green Greens. My custom ringtone for when work is calling is Butter Building. My voicemail tone is the sound of Kirby losing a life.

I had "Hey!" the iconic sound from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time as my text tone for a really really long time.
I've also used the Sonic sound effect of picking up a ring a lot too.
