Ever start working on something

and realize it's way more involved than you thought it would be?
Yeah. The corollary to that being holy shit, I never realized just how massive this series really is now. Looks like that sidebar's going to be on the backburner, at least for now.
That does seem to happen to me a lot, now that I think about it. It never looks like a lot of work until I actually start, well, working on it and then it turns into this enormous hydra-like virtual being.
So in the meantime, I'm going to just let that breathe while I work on more immediate stuff. I'm being vague on purpose because I'm not sure how much I should really be saying about this particular project. Not that it's really intended to be any big secret but hey, why spoil the surprise?
And given the sheer volume of work I have right now, my productivity system has had to undergo a bit of a change. I have a ton of deadlines to keep track of and pretty much all of it is in project form, so I've had to narrow my focus quite a bit. Basically, I'm happy if I can write three things down in my completed tasks list each day. Especially if one of them is a project. I also track all of my deadlines in chronological order, which helps keep things organized and in perspective. Man, I wish I'd thought to do this so much earlier. The sense of flow alone is a huge boost.
