On games, gaming and life in the digital age.
The weather's turned, more or less, and fall is settling in for its relatively short stay before winter's frigid grasp. Which means it's officially the start of baking season. Not that there's ever a bad time for baking, but something about doing it when the temperatures are near 100F is just not appealing. And for once I'm actually excited about it, because within the past year I've discovered that I enjoy baking. So far I only do bread and cookies but hey, it's bread and cookies. ...
The first episode of many, I imagine. The reason why I haven't been around much, or at all, the fast few days is that I've been getting visited by the Blue Reaper. My system was so unstable for a time that I had to turn it off as a preventative measure. Ah, technology. So, I did what little investigating I could on my phone and quickly discovered that whatever was causing it was beyond my depth. Fortunately, my best friend is a master of this sort of thing. And my general notification sound is the save from Final Fantasy VIII. Just because I can. And the victory fanfare is so cliche now. I am kind of sad though--you can find some sound effects from VII and VIII, but for some reason finding them for any other game is pretty much a crapshoot. Bad enough I had to rip the audio for ...
This is probably part I of many. So, I got my stepfather a new GPS for his birthday on Friday. He does have one but being both technophobic and unwilling to learn how to use electronics beyond the TV remote, he has managed to break both his and my mother's. Mine's the only one in the household that still works right, mostly because I never let him use it. Since he is a hard man to shop for (he never uses anything he gets because it might get "dirty", including tools ...
